NBG Digital Home
Hello, I’m Nathan Green, founder and main engineer of NBG Digital Home – a company that has evolved from a small domestic electrical business started in 2007 in my home town of Frome, Somerset, into a fully fledged provider of green electrical solutions for commercial and domestic customers across Wiltshire and Somerset.
I have a background that includes industrial machinery automation from when I worked in for an ink manufacturer many years ago. From there I became passionate about the idea of creating smart homes.
The concept was very new back when I started my own business and there was little interest locally, so I had to stick to offering general electrical services to begin with, with a bit of smart home tech thrown in whenever and wherever I found a keen customer.
The turning point came a few years ago when I discovered an Austrian company called Loxone, which offers an exciting range of intelligent building automation products allowing for a complete integrated energy-saving solutions – lighting, heating, security and access control all combined. I underwent Loxone’s excellent training and became their Silver Partner here in the local area.
An Ambition to Offer Smart, Renewable Solutions
In conjunction with building the smart home side of my electrical business, I was keen to specialise in providing renewable power in the form of Solar PV systems, incorporating battery storage for excess power generated.
This green element of the business perfectly complements my recent training in installing and maintaining electric vehicle charging equipment.
All in all I have now realised the ambition I set out to achieve when I started my electrical business: being able to offer smart green home solutions for businesses and domestic customers, along with vehicle charging, all powered if required by solar energy. It’s all about comfort, convenience, saving money on energy bills and saving the planet.
While enjoying all the new tech – and establishing a family with four young daughters – I haven’t lost sight of the first priority of any electrical engineer, which is to install and maintain safe electrical circuits in homes and businesses. We still fill a busy calendar with plenty of general electrical work in Frome and nearby towns like Westbury, Trowbridge, Warminster, Wells, and Radstock, as well as the cities of Bath and Bristol.
